Grays Pottery Summertime 8586 Oval Serving Dishes Bowls x 2 Dorothy Tomes?

The back stamps are:

(Second Galleon) H4 in use from 1928-31

(Liner) D5 in use from 1929-30

Probably a Dorothy Tomes or Sam Talbot design

It was retailed by the famous Barkers store in London.

Queen Mary is recorded as having bought some of this design in June 1930 at the Modern Pottery Fair.

Decorated in large hand painted flowers in beautiful bright colours - orange, blue, yellow, with green leaves and grasses.

Please note there is crazing and a loss of gilt to both, and the blue is very faded on one.

Wear to the colours as expected of the age.
